Pierre Gasly is aiming to bounce-back from a disappointing French K Prix last weekend, where the French driver could only manage 12th-place at his home Grand Prix.

It was a difficult weekend for Gasly at the Circuit Paul Ricard, afterward the Scuderia AlphaTauri driver struggled to go the almost out of the team'due south new upgrades. Gasly looked dorsum on his home weekend, ahead of this weekend's Hungarian Grand Prix.

"Looking at the positives from the Ricard weekend, I enjoyed the interaction with all my fans and the support from the French crowd. As for our on-runway action, on Friday the new upgrades delivered a adept performance, but we could not extract the maximum out of them on Saturday or Sunday, and we left France with no points in the end.

"We need a flake more time evaluating the new parcel merely there's obviously a limit to how much we can do in just a few days. Withal, I know our engineers volition be looking at all the information, so that we tin can try some more things in Fri practice at the Hungaroring, which volition exist some other hot weekend."

Gasly will be full of optimism ahead of the weekend at the Hungaroring, where he has performed exceptionally well in recent years. The Frenchman is a big fan of the venue, with it being of his "favourite" tracks on the calendar.

Gasly is hoping the upgrades volition exist better suited to the circuit this weekend, where he can't wait to race in front of the usually big Hungarian crowd.

"I've generally done well in Hungary, it's ever been successful for me and I've finished 6th, sixth and fifth over the last 3 races we've had there and final twelvemonth I likewise ready the fastest race lap. I like the layout a lot, it's very twisty and technical to drive with very few straights. It's unique in its fashion and you can really go into a rhythm.

"In terms of the enjoyment you become from driving it, the Hungaroring is up at that place equally one of my favourites. As always here, it will exist very important to qualify well, as overtaking is traditionally very hard. With the summer intermission coming up later this race, it would be skillful to go on holiday with a practiced consequence under my chugalug, not just for me, but for the whole team.

"Y'all need enough of downforce at this track, similar levels to Monaco and that is part of what the updates are meant to deliver. We will be pushing every bit much as possible to be where we think we should exist in terms of performance.

"There's a corking atmosphere at the Hungaroring. It e'er has a very large crowd and when we get dorsum to the urban center in the evening, the fans are waiting for us at our hotel and they are very excited most the Grand Prix. It volition be interesting to see what sort of testify nosotros put on with these new cars on this tight track. I hope we can perform well."

Hungaroring a "big contrast" from Circuit Paul Ricard – Yuki Tsunoda

Yuki Tsunoda endured a horrendous weekend in France, subsequently existence forced to retire from the race following contact with Esteban Ocon.

The BWT Tall F1 Team driver ploughed into the side of Tsunoda, causing substantial impairment. The Japanese driver was frustrated to have had to retire, after not getting a chance to collect race data on the new upgrades.

"The French weekend was of import for the team as we introduced a big update, mainly aimed at producing more downforce. There were definite signs of comeback in complimentary practise on Friday and I was pleased with my Qualifying performance, getting into Q3 felt like progress. But my race was ruined when Ocon hit me and although I tried to go along, in the end the harm was too bad and I had to retire. Information technology besides meant that information technology was hard to assess the changes to the machine over a race distance."

Tsunoda is aiming to bounce-back this weekend in Hungary, a weekend he finds "enjoyable". Qualifying is always very of import around the tight and twisty Hungarian circuit, with overtaking beingness exceptionally difficult.

The Japanese driver is interested to see if overtaking will be easier this weekend, following the trend this season of overtaking beingness easier in the new cars.

"It'due south a big contrast going from a fast circuit like Ricard to the Hungaroring, which is and then much slower and twisty, and this weekend nosotros might become a amend idea of what the updates bring, as we increase our knowledge of how they work. Last year at this race, I had a bit of good luck, considering although I only qualified 16th after a difficult session, on the Sunday, with the accidents on the opening lap, I was eventually classified 6th.

"The Hungaroring is an enjoyable rails to drive, as y'all get into a rhythm through all the corners with no time to relax as there are no existent long straights, but it tin exist a bit frustrating in the race as if you become stuck behind another motorcar, information technology has always been difficult to overtake.

"I will be keen to meet if this yr, that situation is improved with these new cars, as and then far nosotros have seen that it is generally easier to overtake than before. Then, Qualifying too as possible will still be really important. I want to exercise well, equally it makes the summer break that comes next more enjoyable if you lot accept scored points just before information technology."
